Considerate Constructors Par Excellence!

Do you all remember our previous post on 12.09.12 about our second Considerate Constructor visit?!Well, that did take place as planned on 13.09.12 and we received our score.

We are proud to announce that we were awarded a highly impressive 38.5 (!!!) out of 40 which puts us in a Gold award position and is the highest score a Wates site has scored since 2010!!

Many congratulations to all the site team.

We look forward to continuing to impress and maintain the high standard we have set ourself for members of the public, our neighbours, the community around us, other Wates employees, school staff, the pupils of DAA and the client.

Community day 2012!

Here we are again......!!

The Wates annual Community day is a day when everyone (literally everyone - from directors to office staff!)  get their hands dirty for a good cause.

Staff at DAA were presented with a project at a local children's centre in Allerton, Bradford which needed painting and a spot of gardening.

In conjunction with members of the supply chain, we painted the perimeter fence, planted some new flowers, painted some doors leaving the centre looking fresh and exuberant.

Here are some pics from the day - enjoy!

Wates staff present school assemblies

Mark, Neil & Abdul were the stars of the show when they were asked by the school to answer questions about the new school project in front of 200 students over 6 different assemblies.

Presenting 2 assemblies each, questions ranged from the foundations of the building to the need for intumescent paint.

Students and the teachers alike were highly impressed and grateful for the time the Wates staff took out of their working day. Some pictures of Neil below taking an assembly:

A Considerate Constructor indeed!

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is the national initiative set up by the construction industry to improve its image. Sites and companies that register with the Scheme sign up and are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements. The Scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three main categories: the environment, the workforce and the general public.

Following on from our first Considerate Constructor site visit in May where we scored an impressive 37 out of 40 (!), we have our second visit this Thursday 13 September 2012.

Peter Waring MCIOB is due to visit site once again to see what new unique and exceptional initiatives we have in place to improve the site.

Wates are a proud associate of the CCS and we work extremely hard to ensure our sites represent our core values of respect, integrity and responsibility.

Watch this space for some feedback from the visit.
